Time For School is a fly-on-the-wall series following 4 and 5 year old children as they start ‘Big School’ for the very first time. Shot in two very different schools, one near a city and one by the sea, the programmes follow two classes of Reception children throughout their first term, from day one in September through to Christmas. From finding out where to hang their coats up to making new friends; learning, playing and having fun, the production team were there every day capturing this very important and exciting journey in a young child’s life. The series shows what’s it’s really like to be in Reception!

 

Starting school is such an important time in any child’s life – as well as parents’ – and so to capture what this is really like and show the audience what a wonderful time Reception children have at school is important. Some of the CBeebies audience will already be at school and will relate to the show and others will be about to start school and may well feel daunted – Time For School hopefully will change this. For parents too, they will be reassured that not only are their children learning, but they are having fun. Time For School is very different from any other series CBeebies has made in its pure observational approach to filming. Everything is filmed as it happens, everything is real and nothing is scripted or set up.

Toby has fun in the playground - but what will happen when he climbs up a slide backwards?

Even the rain doesn't stop Jacob from having fun with new friends.

Ameelie and her friends at Mere Green School get messy with powder paint.

In the small school in Lowick, it's a big day for Abbie and Connor as they settle in.

The reception class go to their very first swimming lesson - but how will Mitchell manage?

The children go blackberry and apple picking and bake a delicious crumble.

Mrs Fieldhouse takes everyone on a trip to explore the island. 

 

Episode 11 

At Mere Green Primary School, Tom and Luciana are having fun with floating balls. 

 

Episode 12 

The reception children at Mere Green spot an injured toy cat stuck up a tree.

 

Episode 13 

It's Jacob's birthday and he shares a delicious chocolate cake with all of his friends. 

 

Episode 14 

Miss Mills takes her class for a visit to the farm to learn all about the animals. 

 

Episode 15 

The police pay a surprise visit to Mere Green to tell the class all about their job. 

 

Episode 16 

At the small school at Lowick, Mitchell gets messy when he tries feet painting. 

 

Episode 17 

The children at Lowick school go on a trip to meet their classmates on Holy Island. 

 

Episode 18 

It's Victorian Day at Lowick and the children get dressed up in clothes from the past.

 

Episode 19 

It's Thaila's birthday and on her special day she takes part in a special dance class.

 

Episode 20 

On Holy Island, Mrs Fieldhouse teaches the class all about the five senses.
